New Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are also call full dentures, which replacing all your natural teeth and adjacent tissues. They can further be classified into two types-convential and provisional (immediate).

A complete conventional denture is made after the natural teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, which is usually ready for placement in the mouth about 8 to 12 weeks.

Immediate denture, unlike conventional dentures, are premade and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed.

In a comparison between the two, immediate dentures do have the advantage of immediacy and patients do not have to be without teeth during the healing period, but tend to compromise on custom fit, especially as gums tend to shrink over time. Therefore, only conventional dentures should be seen as a permanent solution.
